Catfish fishing requires heavyweight tackle to land these powerful fish, which can reach over 60lb in some venues. Use size 1 forged hooks tied to minimum 45lb hooklengths and 20lb mainline. A simple ledger rig is effective for targeting catfish. To minimise resistance, point your rod directly at the rig and use a run ring. A lead of at least 2oz will help the line pull freely through the ring, reducing friction. Remember, patience is key when fishing for catfish.
