Feeder fishing chairs, or accessory chairs as they’re often referred to, have grown in popularity in recent years. Offering the comfort of a traditional fishing chair and the versatility and convenience of a seatbox by being able to keep essential items close to hand, they provide the best of both worlds.

Whereas options of this style of chair were once limited, there is now an extensive selection of feeder fishing chairs available on the market. One which you might not have seen in your local tackle shop, however, is the Caperlan CSB Feeder Fishing Adjustable Chair.

Part of Decathlon’s fishing range, unlike many of the other feeder chairs on the market, the CSB comes supplied with a feeder arm, front and rear rod rests and a side tray with a support leg. This means you’re ready to start fishing straight from the box. The other highly impressive thing about this package, is that you get all of the above for just £109.99 which is significantly cheaper than many alternative models – many of which require accessories to be purchased separately.

Out of the box the CSB chair is straightforward and easy to assemble. The chair itself is fully padded and covered in a hard-wearing polyester material. All four legs are adjustable so it can easily be set up on uneven terrain. The frame is constructed from aluminium which helps keep the weight to just 8.4kg.

Impressive accessories

The feeder arm is incredibly secure and stable thanks to the support brace, and it can be fished pointing down towards the water or, if you’re fishing a river and want to keep as much as your line out of the water as possible, it can be positioned so your rods are pointing skywards. The length of the feeder arm can also be easily adjusted, making it compatible with all lengths of rods, from short 10ft models through to longer 13ft versions. The multi-grooved front rest is perfect for precision rod positioning to help create just enough tension in the rod tip to easily spot any bites.

The side tray comes with an extendable support leg which holds the table flat and prevents it tilting over to one side, even when heavier items are placed on it. The tray itself is plenty big enough to hold essential items that you’ll want to keep close to hand, such as bait tubs, hookbaits, a catapult or a disgorger.

One unique feature can be found on the support leg. On the top there’s a cap which can be removed, allowing an umbrella pole to be dropped inside the leg. And due to the length of leg this proves an incredibly stable way of using an umbrella with the chair. In fact, it’s such a simple way of attaching an umbrella we’re amazed that we don’t see such a system on more chairs.

Leg sizes

The legs are 25mm in diameter, which is pretty much an industry standard. A lot of the more expensive seatboxes now have 36mm diameter legs but there are lots of accessories on available that are compatible with 25mm legs should you wish to add them to this chair.

There are no armrests on the chair, which while some people might say they make a chair more comfortable and easier to get out of, their absence actually improves the chair’s performance from a fishing point of view as it’s much easier to cast and position a rod without them in the way.

Easy to transport

On the underside of the chair is a padded carry strap which makes it easy to hold and transport to and from your peg once its folded away.

There’s also a really useful flap on the back of the chair and Velcro pouch on the base which can be used to store all of the supplied accessories.
