After a successful 2023, the Off The Hook charity event returned with the goal of raising money for Thames Hospice. Held at the prolific Greenridge Farm Fishery near Romsey, 18 anglers participated in a two-day festival to support organiser Lewis Balsdon's efforts to raise as much money as possible.
The fishing was hit and miss, with some anglers faring better than others. Dan Squires won the event with a score of four points, narrowly beating Martin Rodgers after a weigh count-back, as both had finished on four points.
"The fishing is always great at Greenridge Farm, and despite the cold rain and the fairly miserable summer we've endured, there were plenty of fish to be caught, with the winning anglers catching over 100lb on both days," Lewis told us.
"I love running these events because they bring anglers together. As an NHS counsellor, I understand the importance of keeping people engaged and outdoors, enjoying their fishing."
"The Thames Hospice is close to my heart. After recently losing my mum, I can't express enough how grateful I am to the staff there, and I'll do anything I can to help."
"We raised a total of £650, almost doubling what we donated last year. Hopefully, we'll surpass this figure at the next event!" he added.
